What a sweet day it was for a wedding! Paul and I got to explore the new Chapel in the Woods venue with Southeast Christian Church and celebrate Mackenzie and Dylan’s marriage! We often get to meet so many fun couples and families with this job, but this wedding was extra special because we knew SO many people at the reception. They are all part of our church family! Celebrating Jesus being at the center of any marriage is enough to make me weepy and excited in the best kind of way. Chapel in the Woods was such a beautiful venue too; it makes me excited for all of the weddings we have there over the next couple years!
These two met in high school and dated long distance for over three years. For the last year, they finally enjoyed a short distance from Louisville to Lexington as they finished school. When Dylan knew it was time to propose, Mackenzie was living in Lexington working during the summer. He surprised her by driving up unannounced and decorating her backyard with pictures and flowers! When she got home from church and found him waiting for her on the porch, he didn’t hesitate asking for her hand. Not only was the proposal a surprise, but all their friends and family came into town to celebrate with them that night. It’s not common that we see such a good secret keeper!
Wedding day was a high rain and storm prediction (as almost all of our weekends have been this year) and despite a little wind, we were able to avoid it all! I was thankful for the indoor options and gorgeous scenery incase we had to be limited inside. After Chapel in the Woods, we headed over to Gheens Foundation Lodge at Beckley Creek Park. It was the perfect compliment and venue to party the night away, and also finally welcome the rain.
Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. West! Enjoy a few of our favorites from your gorgeous day! Many more to come. 🙂
Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE first looks! It gives you the time to really be intentional with each other and spend the day TOGETHER instead of hiding away. The ceremony reactions are still always just as sweet and tender. Nothing can take away from that special moment, so I feel first looks only add to the day.
We feel ya, Dylan! Congratulations, buddy!
