Lexington Wedding Photographer | Keeneland Kentucky
Paul and I are pretty thrilled to be Virginia & Zack’s Lexington Wedding Photographer later this fall! But until then, is anyone else loving these absolutely gorgeous spring days in the Bluegrass? If you live anywhere near Louisville or Lexington Kentucky, chances are you’re still reeling a bit from the Kentucky Derby! I’ve watched the Derby intently every year since moving here 23 years ago. To say this was a surprise is an understatement! (If you have no idea what I’m talking about, you can check it out here. ) If you don’t live near Kentucky, just suffice it to say that this time of year is a bit crazy and fun.
Zack & Virginia are no strangers to Southern culture. These may now live in New York City, but when it came to planning their wedding day, Virginia always knew she wanted to come back to her roots. She shares, “I have always dreamt of a big southern wedding in a big White House with lots of greenery. So Lexington Country Club is the perfect venue! I’ve spent so much of my childhood there that planning a wedding from afar and knowing the venue so well has been wonderful!”
When we first got their inquiry, it came with a bit of mixed emotions. Some sweet friends of ours were no longer able to photograph their wedding. (Don’t worry- it’s for a great reason with a baby on the way!) We always feel so honored when we’re recommended by other professionals we know and trust because we all treasure being able to serve our clients well. Within 5 minutes of shooting together, I felt like these two were old friends. They’re nothing but classy, but the way they appreciate and speak about their families is something special. Heritage is something we value and treasure.
Virginia shares more about their engagement, saying “Zack surprised me in Central Park a little over two years ago. We were visiting and I had no idea he was even in the city. He had one of my best friends trick me into going to a restaurant in one of my favorite areas and he popped out and surprised me! We walked down to a little gazebo next to a frozen lake and he proposed with my Great Grandmother’s engagement ring she had left for me. I had no idea it even existed!” You can see more of Virginia’s Great Grandmother’s ring, as well as a few of our favorites from their gorgeous spring engagement session below.
Zack and Virginia, thank you both for being absolutely sweet and fun! I feel like the stars aligned with the weather, this session and the timing of it all. We absolutely can’t wait to celebrate with you all come wedding day!
