I’ve been anticipating this wedding for over a year now and here we are! Finally October! But… the forecast was grim. A week before Josh and Val’s big day at Tuckers Gap Event Center, the weather channel was calling for continuing storms, with lots of wind and rain, the same old thing we’ve experience for most of October. These left overs from the hurricanes hitting the east and south have made for a soggy fall. Although we’ve become quite accustomed to shooting in the rain this year, I held off on chatting with Val about the weather just hoping it would change. Thankfully, that’s exactly what happened! The storms slowed down a bit and didn’t hit until Saturday evening, and their day was a totally dream! I didn’t know how much I’ve missed the sun until getting to enjoy it all day long.
Valerie and Josh are what I consider dream clients and now, friends. I’ve been looking forward to capturing their day since their engagement session last fall when I realized just how photogenic and GENUINE they both are! Not only are they natural in front of the camera but they are incredibly kind and joyful. They type of joy that just resonates from deep inside and bubbles over to everyone they meet. I have no doubt that even if the weather had been different and we had been celebrating their day in the midst of a storm, these two would have been joyful. To be able to witness their vows and depth of their love for each other was incredible. Josh’s brother performed the ceremony at Tuckers Gap, and it was such a pure delivery of the gospel. Emotions ran deep as everyone remembered fondly Josh’s late mother who passed away last year. To hear Val promise to pass down his mom’s legacy to their future children and to watch Josh speak of values in his mom that he saw in Val left everyone crying. Paul and I had tears streaming down our faces almost the whole ceremony. When I think back on why, it wasn’t necessarily because of the sadness of their loss, but more so the beauty of the depth of their love, the weight of their words and how they honored her memory. A heartfelt memory I’ll think of fondly for years to come.
Paul and I loved being surrounded by their family and friends all day. Not only was the wedding party a blast, and had 2 of our brides from past years as bridesmaids, but the reception at Tuckers Gap was one of the most fun events we’ve been to all year!! Laughter, surprises dances (just you wait till below) and joy everywhere. It was a joyful celebration of a wonderful couple!! Valerie and Josh, congratulations on this special new season of life! We hope your trip to Antigua is nothing short of breathtaking!Enjoy my favorites from their day!
This first look moment right here is why I LOVE this option!! Not only did Josh and Val get to spend their day together instead of in hiding, but they got raw genuine emotion! Josh still teared up as Val walked down the aisle at the ceremony, but here he got to embrace her, whisper to her and share a private moment before the business of the day. Pure joy!
These fall colors just gave me life! Ha! Did you catch the purple leaves in Val’s bouquet? I wish more couples would choose bold, gorgeous colors like these! They make a statement and totally pop. Way to go, guys!
Just the sweet, typical father-daughter dance…. I mean… JUST KIDDING!! These two surprised everyone and busted some amazing moves to their own mashup! I can’t wait to show them all of the hilarious pictures we took in between laughing and being so impressed! Way to go, dad!!
Val’s a veterinarian and had the best animal surprises throughout her day! The horses at Tuckers Gap were very curious… I think it’s just preparing Josh for the dozens of animals they’ll one day care for themselves. 😉 Haha!
Truly a day for the record books. Thank you Josh and Val for being amazing! Paul and I would love to take you up on the Colorado visit sometime. Praying for years of joy in all circumstances and wishing you all the happiest first year of marriage!!
Thank you to the incredible vendor team that made this day possible!
